Phyto-pharmacological review of genus manilkara

Manilkra is a pantropical genus in the family Sapotaceae. Many species from this are economically important and yield quality timber, edible fruits useful latex. The plants Manilkara extensively distributed all over tropical semitropical areas like Africa, Australia, Asia, Madagascar Latin America, as well islands such Pacific Caribbean. Phytochemical studies of different showed presence triterpenoids, phenolic compounds saponins major phytoconstituents which were correlated with various pharmacological activities. Because high diversity chemical constituents their biological activities, can serve potential medicinal resource for drug discovery. present review includes traditional use, phytopharmacological carried out on few Manilkara. As promising source new bioactive compounds. provide baseline future research studies.
